The Access Alliance

Access to the Future -- Access to Success

Moving Your Agency Ahead
Faced with increasing demands for affordable housing and safe viable communities, today's housing and community development agencies are being challenged to work harder and smarter, and to tap all available resources from both public and private sectors.

The Access Alliance was formed in 2001 by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), Bank of America, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and the National Equity Fund (NEF) to help agencies build the skill and capacity needed to become more effective and also to make significant, continuing use of public investment and private capital and development practices. The Alliance was renewed in 2006, and is expanding its Capital Access and Access Capacity programs to meet the growing needs of NAHRO members.

The Access Alliance's main purpose is to assist NAHRO housing and community development member agencies in their efforts to expand the nation's supply of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families and to revitalize neighborhoods through development, acquisition and preservation of viable, affordable housing and community improvements without relying solely on federal programs and funding. Member agencies developing residential/commercial and commercial properties also can turn to the Alliance for help.
