About the NAHRO e-Procurement System
NAHRO launched the e-Procurement System in conjunction with its parter, DET, in August, 2002. As a system designed to assist NAHRO member agencies with compliance and competition, it now has more than 350 agencies signed on.
The e-Procurement System also has more than 4000 local, regional and national vendors signed on to respond to the needs of agencies using the system.
By offering the ability to agencies to conduct both RFQ and RFP processes on-line, it has greatly increased the efficiencies seen by agencies using it, and the opportunities that vendors have to be aware of the marketplace.

Word on the Street:
Stan McCright, Past Chairman, Manufacturers’ and Suppliers’ Council
Advisory Board:
“ The MSC is committed to working with NAHRO through its subsidiary NAHRO,
Inc. in its efforts to implement the NAHRO e-Procurement System since we believe
that it can improve the procurement process within the industry. Accordingly
we encourage vendors and agencies to sign up and to use the system as it is only
in that way can they experience its benefits.”
Nicholas Wand, Sales, PDQ:
“It’s a good way to see the bids that are out there. We did get an
order and it is an order I may have never gotten because the buyer did not know
we sold that commodity. It gives us a chance to branch out more.”
Jerry Schock, Executive Director, Port Huron (MI) Housing Commission
“Its a win-win for our vendors. They still get a chance at
my business-- But they also get a chance at business that they never
knew existed. The yearly cost is just a drop in the bucket compared
to the fancy, eye catching marketing attempts. Ya just gotta love
it.!!"
Jim Inglis, NAHRO National President,
Livonia (MI) Housing Commission
"The Livonia Housing Commission is anxiously awaiting the professional
services component. Currently, national firms are providing architectural,
auditing and other professional consulting services to our agency.
The electronic procurement system will ensure national exposure of
our requests and will assist in obtaining responsive, responsible
and qualified firms. Give the NAHRO electronic procurement initiative
a try, you will be amazed at the opportunities and economic benefits."
Kurt Creager, Chief Executive Officer, Vancouver (WA) Housing Authority
“E-procurement is proving to be an easy way to stretch our maintenance budget. After only a short time using the system, the more competitive bidding environment has already given us lower prices--one new vendor was able to provide smoke detectors for a full 30% less than our local sources. That signals to me that this is only the beginning of terrific savings agency-wide.”
